DevOps Engineer
Own production from commit to customer. Sleep at night anyway.
What this role is, in plain words.
RASAYAN is the AI pharmacy management platform we are building for shops like ours. As the DevOps engineer, you own the path code takes from a developer's laptop to a pharmacist's screen — and the path data takes back. That includes AWS, Cloudflare, Postgres, Terraform and GitHub Actions, but more importantly it includes the judgement calls about what is safe to ship on a Friday.
We are looking for someone with at least three years running production systems, ideally with healthcare or fintech-grade care for data. You will be the second or third infra hire, not the fortieth. The ratio of decisions to tickets is high.
What is different here: the customer is sometimes our own pharmacist downstairs. If a deploy breaks dispensing, you will hear about it from a human you know by name. That tightens the loop.
A typical week.
- Own the AWS account structure, IAM, and the Terraform modules that describe every environment — staging, production, and per-tenant if we go there.
- Run the GitHub Actions pipelines so a green PR gets to production behind a feature flag without a human ferrying it.
- Operate Cloudflare at the edge — WAF rules, rate limits, cache policy, and the DNS that, when wrong, takes the whole product offline.
- Manage Postgres in production: backups you have actually restored, point-in-time recovery, read replicas, and slow-query review with the backend team weekly.
- Define the PHI handling boundary — what logs scrub, what S3 buckets are encrypted with which keys, who has break-glass access — and document it so an auditor can follow it.
- Stand up observability that a tired on-call can actually use: structured logs, traces, a small number of high-signal dashboards, and alerts that mean something.
- Run incident response — write the runbook, lead the post-mortem, and close the loop on the action items instead of letting them rot in a backlog.
- Cost-tune monthly: right-size instances, kill orphan resources, and bring a one-page cost report to the engineering review.
Must-haves.
- Three or more years operating production workloads on AWS (EC2, RDS, S3, IAM, VPC at minimum).
- Production-grade Terraform — modules, remote state, drift management.
- Hands-on Postgres operations: backups, restores, replication, basic query tuning.
- CI/CD with GitHub Actions or equivalent, including secrets handling that does not leak.
- Cloudflare or a comparable edge / CDN / WAF in production.
- A demonstrable instinct for security and data privacy — least privilege, audit trails, encryption at rest and in transit as defaults.
Bonus, not required.
If you have one or two of these, mention them in the cover note. Don’t self-select out if you don’t.
- Prior work on a healthcare, fintech or insurance product where data classification mattered.
- Kubernetes in anger — though we will not start there.
- Familiarity with ISO 27001 or SOC 2 control language even if you have not led an audit.
- Experience with multi-tenant SaaS isolation patterns.
Honest filters so you can decide before we both spend the time. None of these are deal-breakers if you have a different point of view — say so in the cover note.
- You prefer to ship infra changes without a written rollback plan.
- You see on-call as someone else's problem once the pipeline is green.
- You need a large platform team around you to feel productive — early on, this team is small.
Honest about the money.
